Mortgage interest rates went up this week, but home prices are still low. What are you waiting for?

One way to make a home more affordable, is to request that the seller credits the buyer some money to cover closing costs.

That way, you don't have to come up with a lot of money at closing. The way it works is that, instead of asking for a reduction in the sales price, you ask the seller to credit you some money (usually up to 3% of the sales price) to cover closing costs.

Ask your lender if that option is available to you.

The Board of Directors of the  National Association of Realtors defines Short Sale" as:

“a transaction where title transfers, where the sale price is insufficient to pay the total of all liens and costs of sale and where the seller does not bring sufficient liquid assets to the closing to cure all deficiencies.”

You can also see Maui Foreclosures or Bank-owned properties listed in the MLS. Just go to www.MyMauiOpenHouse.com and register for BrokersMLS. Once you choose your user ID and password, you can see Short Sales listings, not only on Maui, but also in Oahu.

Wishing all moms a Very Happy Mother's Day!

The County of Maui announced the beginning of lifeguard services at Makena State Park, commonly known as Big Beach.

County lifeguards began working at Big Beach on Friday, May 1st, from two towers located at both ends of the beach, and they will be linked to the County's 911 system for emergency response.

Lifeguard services will be provided seven days a week from 8 AM until 4:30 PM.

An official opening ceremony will be held next Friday, May 8, at 10 AM. The public is invited.

 

 

Finally, the new playground at Keopuolani Park, in Kahului, will be open to the public.

The Grand Opening and blessing will be next Saturday, May 9th, at 10 AM. Light refreshments will be served.

The playground is located right below the softball  fields.
